Since 2016, the Tokyo National Museum has been organizing the Meeting of Japanese Art Specialists to exchange information and discuss issued faced by museum professionals in charge of Japanese art in and outside of Japan. This year's meeting, the sixth of its kind, was held remotely via Zoom due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The first half of this year’s meeting was dedicated to sustainability and curatorial work. During this discussion, the difficulty of striking a balance between exhibitions and sustainability was pointed out by various participants. During the second half, the participants discussed the accessibility of museum collections online and museum websites, and expressed their opinions on future improvements.

Although the meeting was shorter than usual, it provided a valuable opportunity to exchange information and network with museum professionals from all over the world in difficult times.
