Tokyo National Museum has hosted the Meeting of Japanese Art Specialists since 2016, providing curators of Japanese art from around the world with opportunities to share information and discuss challenges pertaining to their work. This year's meeting, the seventh to date, was held remotely and involved professionals from Asia and Oceania in addition to those from North America and Europe.

During the first half of the meeting, participants discussed the topic of digitizing vocabulary for Japanese art. They shared problems regarding thesauri of Japanese art terminology and discussed possible solutions. During the second half, participants discussed the topic of changing approaches to loan exhibitions, sharing their experiences as impacted by the pandemic.

Although the meeting was shorter than usual, it provided a valuable opportunity to exchange information and network with museum professionals from across the world during these difficult times.
